Preview: Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition
This preview is based largely on the feature in Nintendo Power 125 (what is this, the first Game Boy NP cover in how many years?)
Everyone's (except for, uh, a lot of people) favorite Pokémon kinda-sorta gets his own game in Pokémon Yellow.
What's the same?
-The basic plot and Pokémon.
What's new?
-Instead of Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Squirtle, you start off the game with Pikachu, who follows you around.
-You have a chance to add Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle to your team at various points in the game.
-Gary will get an Eevee, which will evolve depending on if you beat him.
-The Pikachu you get learns new attacks and at different levels.
-Jessie and James appear.
-The Unknown Dungeon has been rearranged.
-Graphics have been partially (think SGB) optimized for Game Boy Color.
-It has another set of Pokémon.
-Yellow users can link up in Colosseum 2, with the Petit, Poké, and Pika cup.
-If you win (or I suppose gameshark) a special surfing Pikachu, you can play a special minigame.
-Some art has been changed to better reflect the TV series.
-You can check Pikachu's mood.
What I think
I'm buying this. No questions.
